2 Cor. 3+4 (one theme)
encore : [the 144,000]
understanding the NT
and OT (-prophets)

No – we do not “translate according the theme WE want to read in it”

Paul , the Corinthians and our generation :
… in 1 Cor.15 we made the remark that Paul (=Christ)
wrote to the Corinthians the way he did for certain reasons ;
but
chapter after (translated-) chapter a more compléte picture emerges :
the first christians were concerned about OUR generation
… – or perhaps rephrased ,
the réason that Paul tells them the things what will happen in the future
is because they KNEW that they – as our ‘fathers’ – were not separate from us :
just WE have forgotten that connection
(compare also the Jeremiah chapters about “the sons returning to the fathers”
to make the circle round again – and our history on earth will have ended ;

discovering the theme [-of chapter]

… often used terms : ‘writing’, reading’, ‘cover [up]’, ‘epistles (chapters)’ ,
then you can already guess what the theme can be about ;
lines 7 and 13 about “moses” show the juxtaposition buildup of this chapter
(see below) ,
while the line “the corrupted word of God” was a main clue – see next :

buildup [-of chapter]

the introduction : starts in the last lines of previous chapter 2 ,
where he tells that “he could not find his brother Titus”,
as a way of saying that “Paul and the Corinthians represented the first christians”,
and in this chapter ‘his brother’ will represent “the future generations of believers” ;
in lines 12 and 16
he also mentions “an opened door” and “the door (not : savour !) of death ,
which must be opened as a door to life” – as again preparing the theme here ;
while last line 16 is very clear : “the corrupted word of God” :
so that is the theme now ;

  • part I    : Paul and his people knéw the words of Christ ,
    yet later generations will need to read the scriptures —
    but the scriptures will have been thoroughly corrupted by then ,
    Paul (=Christ) saying “yet no one will ask themselves IF they were corrupted” ;
    therefore they will have “a dead belief” (compare ‘introduction’ above) ;
  • part I b :
    the restoration of OT and NT – through the 144 :
    … because these NEED to find eden-life – or they will die –
    they will investigate ; and find the original sayings ;
  • part I c :
     closing : the promise ;
  • 2 Cor. 4 :  see there

syntax buildup of subthemes   [-as textual direction for ús] :
as often in Corinthians
theme A
theme B
theme C
   next lines :                                                 [<< the juxtaposition presupposes other subjects now]

corruptions : rather grave
but chapter is 100% contextually restored
