Want onze
overtredingen zijn talrijk voor u , en onze zonden getuigen tegen ons . Want onze
overtredingen zijn bij ons, onze ongerechtigheden , wij kennen ze : het overtreden en
liegen tegen de Heer en het zich afkeren bij onze God vandaan , het spreken van
onderdrukking en afvalligheid, het zwanger zijn en melding maken van leugenachtige
woorden vanuit het hart . Daarom is het recht teruggeweken , en de gerechtigheid
blijft van verre staan . Want de waarheid struikelt op straat, en wat recht is, kan niet
binnenkomen . Ja, de waarheid ontbreekt , en wie zich afkeert van het kwade wordt
beroofd . En de Heer zag het, en het was kwalijk in zijn ogen dat er geen recht was .
Omdat hij zag dat er niemand was, ontzette hij zich, want er was geen voorbidder .
Daarom bracht zijn arm heil ,en zijn gerechtigheid, die ondersteunde hem .
Want Hij trok de gerechtigheid aan als een harnas en zette de helm van heil op
zijn hoofd. Het gewaad van de wraak trok hij aan als kleding en hij hulde zich in de
na-ijver als mantel . Naar de daden, daarnaar zal hij vergelden, grimmigheid aan zijn
tegenstanders , vergelding aan zijn vijanden . Aan de kustlanden zal Hij vergelden
wat zij verdienen .

Dan zullen zij
