Mal. 3 (last chapter)  sober :
    the many left-behind souls
    did not take God seriously

            (surprising theme)
[final version ; 2022-05may.15]

observations before translating : see chapter 2 ;

Malachi 3

theme : will read for itself ;
… we are 100% sure that this was the intended theme here ,
since a number of other prophet chapters contain the same stern warning to believers —
that “God could never have said this – because of Christ” sounds nice but is not true ,
because the goal is not “believing in Christ” but understanding he is the door TO God

corruptions : rather grave ; Esau wanted to make sure to hide the “endtime theme”
                             and especially the danger our modern type christianity is in ;
                             therefore part II ’the robbing’ he corrupted most seriously ;

now addressed to Jacob :
1
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord,
whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant,
whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts
1
behold ! , I (will) send – my messenger=anointed one (Christ) (mlak=mshh)
b
and he (will) surfaces=take – way=them (144) – to [..1x..] me ;
c
[=but] to [+you] – the temple=people , all over sudden – he (will) come ,
d
[+as] the Lord – which=whom – you – (have) [+not] – seek=awaited ,
e
[..] (being-) the messenger=king (mlk=mlk) of – the covenant – which – [+you] delight in :
f
behold ! , he (will have) come , says – IEUE of – hosts ;

note :
– note how here “the Christ covenant” is intended — “the covenant of saving of the soul”
  (so NOT as the covenant in chapter 2 !) ,
– by context “it is the covenant” they delight in ;
– the “king” : like in other prophets the believers call Him “our king” ;

2-4
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth?
for he [is] like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’soap: And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier
of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they
may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. Then shall the offering of Judah and
Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years
2
[=but] who (will) endure – the day of – his coming ? ,
b
and who – (shall) stand – [=when] he – (will have) appeared ? ;
c
for – he (will be) – like – a refiner’s – fire ,
d
and like – a fuller’s – soap ;                         +

3
[=because] he (will have) sits=returned (ishb=shb) – [+as] a refiner ,       +
b
[=like] one purifying – silver ,                                                                 [<< compare Laodicea]
c
and he (will) purify – [..1x..] – Jacob , [..] purging – them – as gold – and silver ;

and=so that they (may) become – righteous – offer=souls (nagsh=nphsh)                     +
e
[+as] the gift – to IEUE ;                                                                    [<< or : “His (=Christs) gift” ?]

[w/ swapped 1x :]
4
and – [..] the jerusalem=tender (irshlm=bshm !) – offering=souls of – Judah=Jacob
b

c

but :

5-6
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers,
and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the
hireling in [his] wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger
[from his right], and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. For I [am] the LORD, I change not;
therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
5
[=therefore] I (will) come near – to you – (but-) for judgment ,
b
[=for] I (will) be – a swift – witness        +
[=against] those practicing witchcraft                               [<< ‘who follow Esau’s ideas’]
c
and [=against] those committing adultery ,                                        [<< ‘Jesus centrism’]
d
and [=against] those – falsely – swearing (-allegiance) ,                  [<< ‘in name only’]
e
and [=against] those extorting – the employee – in (his-) wages ,          +
f
(and extort-) the widow – and the orphan ,                                                            [<< ‘greed’?]
g
and [=against] those turning aside – the sojourner ;                      [<< ‘lovelessness’?]
h
[=because] (all of these-) (do) – not – fear me , says – IEUE of – hosts ;

6
[+and] because – I (am) – IEUE , I change (-my mind) – not :
b
and=therefore [=all] of – the son=remainder of – Jacob – (will) come to an end (-physically) ;

note :
line 5) : for ‘adultery’ : see especially the Isaiah and Hosea chapters ; explained in part II below ;
line 5) : the ‘sojourner’ : not today’s economic refugees as part of Esau’s Kalergi plan ;
line 6) : compare (just posted) Jer. 9:16 “send the sword after them to finish them” ;
                 we had to insert ‘remainder’ to not intend ’the family tree of souls’ ;

                                                                                                             because they ‘forgot something’ :
7-9
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not
kept [them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said,
Wherein shall we return?  Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein
have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye [are] cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed
me, [even] this whole nation.
7
[=because] [=since] the days of – your fathers         +                      [<< since Reformation]
b
you turned aside – [..] my ordinance – (thinking-) not – (needing-) to keep [-them] ,
c
(writing-) : “return – to me – and I – (will) return – to you” , says – IEUE of – hosts ;
d
[=but] you said : wherein – (do) we (need) to return ? ;

8
[+but] (will) – a man – rob – (his-) deity ? ,                                              [<< ‘evangelistic mode’]
b
yet – you – (have) robbed – me ;
c
[=but] you said : wherein – (have) we robbed you ? ;
d
[attempt :]
[=because] – [+you] (did) – and=not offerings=search – the tithes=scroll (moshr=sphr) ,

[attempt :]
9
[..] curse=writing : you – (are) under a curse – [=by] – you – robbing – me ,         +
b
[+as?] all of – these nation=people ;              (?)

note :
line 8) : the scroll : unlike the 144 , they were not asked to go find themes in the
corrupted scroll — but understand (from it) that Christ was the door TO God :
instead of the “we’re happy that we’re saved” – see rest of chapter ;

                                                                             part II

                                                now the robbing must be expláined :
          (“because they feel saved by Christ they do not give attention to God anymore”)

[we think the context of 10-11-12 juxtaposed to 13-14 is now correct :]
10-15
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground;
neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken
[so much] against thee? Ye have said, It [is] vain to serve God: and what profit [is it] that we
have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up;
yea, [they that] tempt God are even delivered.

closing : conclusion :

16-18
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened,
and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared
the LORD, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of
hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth
his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous
and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
