Hoor het geschreeuw van de herders, en het gejammer van de gebieders van de kudde,
omdat de Heer hun weide verwoest. De vredige weiden worden vernield vanwege
de brandende toorn van de Heer. Als een jonge leeuw heeft Hij zijn schuilplaats verlaten,
want hun land is geworden tot een woestenij vanwege de brandende toorn van
de onderdrukker, ja, vanwege zijn brandende toorn .

Ik ben geworden als een dronkeman, als een man wie de wijn naar het hoofd is gestegen ,
vanwege de Heer , en vanwege zijn heilige woorden .
Want het land is vol overspelers, ja, vanwege de vervloeking treurt het land ,
verdorren de weiden van de woestijn . Wat zij najagen is slecht, hun kracht gebruiken zij niet juist.
