Jer.35 : the 500 BC aftermath :
the remnant of the house Judah
nót having offered [strange-]  fire
will not go into exile to Babylon

[version ; 2024-03mar.28-30]

                                                                                               theme

        the alleged theme of this chapter :
        Jeremiah is asked to invite the Kenites – a nomadic tribe somehow related to Judah –
        to come to the temple where he will present them wine to drink ; but they will refuse ,
        saying how their father taught them to abstain from it — after which God announces
        evil upon the house of Judah for not being like the Kenites

        … which ofcourse is NOT the original theme here , sigh

        so what was it ?
        the “drink + wine” is one of Esau’s favourite corruptions , yet indeed the text shows a
        group that is ‘being tested’ : the key here is the phrase “which I have not commanded”
        typically connected with ‘strange fire’ as in the Leviticus chapters (see pages) but álso
        showing in the same context in Jeremiah 32 ! ,
        while ofcourse the previous chapter 34 the main theme wás ‘the fire’ , and even in next
        chapter 36 some fire event appears — so that this must have been the same subject
        in spite of Esau’s sub-corruptions to have the event here take place 17 years earlier
        by his addition “in the days of Jehoiakim” (in line 1) ;
        the ‘sons as the remnant of the house of Judah’ :
        as everywhere in prophets God always preserves a remnant , in different situations ;
        we know that the Chaldeans left the poorer people behind to work their lands opposed
        to the middle and upper class that were taken into exile to Babylon ; it may have been
        that this remnant belonged to the poor people , as well ;
        yet then we have a bit of a problem with “Hanameel the high priest & other priests” (in 4)
        where ‘hanameel’ and ‘high’ are simple corruptions : it is probable that they also witnessed
        this Legal event but we do not (-yet) know what happened to them priests after this ;
        the repetitive phrases here :
        … the phrase ‘offer fire’ and ‘commanded’ appear often but , as we saw before , often so
        done to have you & we understand the theme (-also since Esau would eventually f*k up
        in corrupting the repeated phrases grin) , yet we tried to not overdo it – see fulltext ;
        how come Judah offered false fire so much ? :
        they must have been well aware to NOT build any idol statues – since they just had seen
        how the Northern kingdom had gone into exile to Assyria 200 years before , by doing that –
        but perhaps the (demonic-) minions of Adam pushed very hard to perform them ,
        compare how a bit later also Nebuchadnessar kindled the altar (see Daniel pages) ;

        and in closing   —
        though this chapter is not directly relevant to us , it does confirm our theme especially
        in connection with “the promise of dwelling upon your own ground” so that is valuable

corruptions : strategical , and without the ‘strange fire’ key not possible to interpret
theme  : context 100% restored , syntax VERY high , >95%

then the word of IEUE becomes to me , saying :                                                                                                             [6x deleted]

I will point out to you the sons that are the remnant of the house of Judah unto me ,
and bring them into the house of IEUE ,
unto the altar of the people ,                                                                                                                                   [ACHEd=mEzbACH]
and tell them to offer an offering by fire upon it ;                                                                               [‘drink’ SHaqah=iSHshe]

and I go and find the house (‘family’) of Jaazaniah ,       +
the house of Jeremiah , and the house of Habaziniah ,                                                                    [the names : perhaps so]
as all the sons that are the remnant of the whole house of Judah ;
4
and I bring them into the house of IEUE ,                                                                                                          [4 : w/ very corrupt]
to stand together with Hanameel the high priest     +                                                               [igadaliah=gadol !]   [Jer.32]
and the other priests who are ministering (?) the altar of the people ,
and who had been witness of (?) the words that IEUE spoke (?)     +
when I wrote the copy of his scroll ;                                                                                                                                      [SPH=SPHr]

then I set before the sons of the house of Judah a censer (‘fire-pan’) filled with burning coals ,
yet without any offering (-to go with it) ,
and I say to them : offer the fire ! ;
6
but they answer : we will not offer any fire ,
because we know the words of IEUE ,
when he commanded our (1200 BC-) fathers concerning this , saying :
you shall not offer fire , you nor your sons , for ever ;       +

because you shall not make an idol statue ,                                                                                          [see fulltext Lev.26 page]
nor build an altar to it , in order to offer fire unto it ;
but instead you shall keep my covenant by honouring my words all of your days ,                                            [Lev.26]
so that you will dwell in safety upon your own ground      +                                                                        [‘read also : eden’]
which I have given (‘promised’) to your fathers ;                                                                                                      [‘Abraham’ etc]
8
but we have seen how the people of Judah     +
have nót honoured the words of IEUE which he commanded to our fathers :
because they have been offering fire , every day ,
they , their wives , their sons , and their daughters ;
9
for they have built altars ,                                                                                                                 [but no statues !]   [Bth=mzBch]
in order to offer fire upon them ,
as not keeping the covenant of IEUE ,      +
10
since they have not honoured his words , nor have hearkened to him ,                                                                     [as in 7]
as not having done what IEUE commanded our fathers ;
11
so when we heard that Nebuchadnessar king of Babylon is already coming up against our land ,
then we said to ourselves : surely IEUE is bringing the army of the Chaldeans upon Jerusalem ,
because our people have sinned against his covenant ! ;
12
then the word of IEUE becomes to me , saying :                                                                                                                  [part I b :]
13
thus says IEUE of hosts , the deity of (eden-) Ishral :
go today and tell the ones that dwell in Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem :
you have not kept the instruction which I spoke to you in my scroll,
is the declaration of IEUE ;      +
14
yet the remnant of the house of Judah háve honoured my words      +
by which I commanded your (1200 BC-) fathers to not offer an offering by fire ;
and unto this day they never have offered any ,
because they have kept my commandment to your fathers ,
by knowing what I spoke to them in my scroll :
but you have not even cáred about my words ;
15
that is the reason why I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets      +
that rose up early to declare my scroll , saying :
return , please , each of you from his evil way ! ,
and do not offer any offering by fire ,
because by doing that you will be worshipping other deities       +
who will make you to be in servitude to them ,
so that you will not dwell upon the ground        +                                                                                   [read : Eden ; and see 7]
which I gave (‘promised’) to your fathers :
but you have not inclined your ear , nor hearkened unto me ;
16
and because the sons that are the remnant of the house of Judah      +
have kept my commandment unto your (1200 BC-) fathers       +
since they have understood it from my scroll ,
while you people have not hearkened unto me ;
17
therefore thus says IEUE of hosts , the deity of (eden-) Ishral :
behold ! , I am bringing the army of the Chaldeans       +
upon the ones that dwell in Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem ,
and you will go into exile to their land ;                                                                                                                          [comp. line 15]
because when I spoke to you , you have not listened ,
as having called unto you , where you have not answered ;                                                                  [b/c of the prophets]
18
then I , Jeremiah , turn towards the sons as the remnant of Judah , saying :                                                       [closing :]
thus says IEUE of hosts , the deity of (eden-) Ishral :
because you have kept my commandment unto your fathers to not offer any offering by fire ,
since you have honoured my words which I spoke in my scroll ;
19
therefore thus says IEUE of hosts , the deity of (eden-) Ishral :
the sons that are the remnant of the house of Judah will nót go into exile ,
but will stand before me all of their days .                                                                                                     [or: ‘stay in this land’]

1
which=then – the word of – [..]  – IEUE – becomes – to – jeremiah=me , [.. 6x ..]  – saying :

[next 2 :
the ‘the·Rechabites’ is corrupt ; but if it said “I will point out to you the remnant”
and in next line 3 “Jeremiah goes to specifically named people” that would run properly no ? :
b) the “wine + to drink” is one of Esau’s favourite corruptions :
2
“Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD,
into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.”
2

note :
… an option was “.. offer their gift to me” which immediately would point to Unleavened ,
however there were several type offerings : key here must be “the altar”
also because “one + room” is so superfluous phrase that it hád to hide something ;

3

note :
a) the phrase “censer filled with coal” also appears in the Leviticus false-fire and even in Revelation ;
b) Esau’s addition “and cups” makes no sense — but for us “without an offering” is important !
c) therefore not neccesarily ‘drink’ needs to be ‘offering by fire’ as in line 2 ;

6
“But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us,
saying, Ye shall drink no wine, [neither ye] , nor your sons for ever:”
